On the surface, transparent photovoltaic glass (PV) from Onyx Solar® looks like conventional architectural glass. But inside lies a unique technology that captures sunlight and transforms it into electricity. Made of two or more panes of heat-treated safety glass, Onyx Solar® PV provides the same natural thermal and sound insulation, while still producing the natural light you expect from glass. So it can be installed anywhere you’d use conventional glass: on building facades, curtain walls, atriums, canopies, terrace floors, and countless others.
By providing the same thermal performance as conventional glass, as well as clean, free electricity from the sun, buildings can drastically improve their energy efficiency, decrease O&M costs and reduce their carbon footprint. All of this, with a payback of under two years, in most cases and eligible for PACE financing from the Clean Fund.
